This book is an Afro-Brazilian poetic work of few poems, but of a
unfailing literary density. Poems that describe real events in Brazil and
stories around the world. Alessandra Martins brings her pulsating poetry,
intense and powerful. A poetry that burns, but also heals. It presents
a poetic intersection between pride and prejudice, aiming to denounce the false
racial democracy and the genocide of the black population in Brazilian society.
This ability to transform reality into literature has the power to
raise awareness, disturb, confront and encourage the reader to question racism
diary that continues to stigmatize, objectify, hypersexualize and exterminate the
black body in African diaspora. The book encompasses a marginal literature. It brings
reflection on fundamental socio-historical issues for understanding
from the structural racism operating to the present day. Divided into four chapters,
Alessandra shares in many of the poems a diastratic variation in
throughout the stanzas, and in a poignant way it overflows with sensitivity and
passion in his verses.
